Tom Brady will not suit up for the New England Patriots' Week 2 match-up against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night in Foxboro, MA, according to the Boston Herald.
Brady went 4-for-7 for 30 yards in the Patriots' preseason opening 7-6 win over the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. As pointed out by Mike Petraglia of WEEI.com, one reason Brady might not be playing Monday is due to the fact that the Pats' offensive line struggled in the preseason opener, culminating in a Saints strip sack of Brady in the game.
With Brady out, veteran backup Brian Hoyer and second-year gunslinger Ryan Mallett will split time under center, giving Pats fans a chance to see what would happen if (gasp... knock on wood) if Brady were injured. Again, just to be safe... knock on wood. Maybe once more.
