Chris Pantale Injury: Boston College TE Will Miss 'Significant' Time With Broken Foot

CHESTNUT HILL - Chris Pantale suffered from a broken bone in his foot during practice on Thursday and may miss a significant portion of time, according to Boston College football head coach Frank Spaziani. Pantale, a senior tight end, was projected to play a major role in the Eagles' offense this season.

"Chris injured himself yesterday," Spaziani said at media day. "He broke a bone in his foot. We're still not quite sure how long this is going to impact [us], but it's significant time. I just got the information this morning. I don't want to put a time on it, but it's significant."

Spaziani did not know which foot Pantale injured, although he believed it was the right foot.

Pantale started all 12 games at tight end for Boston College last season and recorded 236 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 21 receptions. In three seasons, Pantale has racked up 797 yards and five touchdown catches through the air in 38 career games.

"He's a captain. He's a leader. He's a captain for a reason," junior linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis said about Pantale. "If we were to lose him, it would definitely hurt a little but. However, we realize we have to move on. Last year we lost two captains, we lost a couple other key players. We've got to keep pushing."

Boston College opens it season against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, September 1.
