The U.S. is one medal behind China after the medal events concluded on Day 5 of the 2012 London Olympics on Wednesday. China and Germany were tied with seven total medals on Wednesday, which boosted Germany into the top five of the medal count. The United States won three gold medals and three bronzes on Wednesday.
The U.S. won the women's individual time trial gold in cycling (Kristin Armstrong), men's 100-meter swimming freestyle (Nathan Adrian) and women's 4x200-meter freestyle swimming relay. Allison Schmitt swam the anchor leg in the 4x200-meter freestyle and helped the U.S. set an Olympic record. The bronze medals were in men's synchronized 3-meter springboard diving, women's quadruple sculls and men's gymnastics individual all-around (Danell Leyva).
