The Red Sox and Yankees will play two Saturday, starting with a 12:35 p.m. matchup between Franklin Morales and Freddy Garcia. Broadcasts are available from NESN and WEEI.
The Sox will have a new face in the lineup today, as recent call-up Pedro Ciriaco will take over second base from Nick Punto for the day. Ciriaco has actually had decent results in his limited major league appearances with the Pirates, hitting .333/.350/.513 in some 40 trips to the plate. A lifetime .656 OPS in the minors and .301/.318/.406 line in 2012 with Pawtucket belie some issues in his game, however. Ciriaco will be familiar to Sox fans who followed spring training closely enough, thanks to his clutch performances that helped the Sox to a pair of (meaningless) victories.
The bullpen has also received a reinforcement in the form of Clayton Mortensen, returning to the team as the 26th member of the roster for the day-night doubleheader.
