The United States and China are still tied at the top of the medal count standings at the 2012 London Olympics after the medal events were completed on Tuesday.
Needham, Mass. native Aly Raisman helped the U.S. in their medal efforts by winning gold with the U.S. women's gymnastics team.
The U.S. was able to win six medals on Tuesday (four gold, one silver and one bronze). Michael Phelps won a silver in the men's 200-meter butterfly and anchored the U.S. team in its gold medal swim in the men's 4x200-meter freestyle relay. Allison Schmitt won gold for the U.S. in the women's 200-meter freestyle. Vincent Hancock (men's skeet shooting) and the women's gymnastics team won the other two gold medals for the U.S. on Tuesday. Caitlin Leverenz claimed bronze for the U.S. in the women's 200-meter individual medley.
