Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez Wins AL Player Of The Week

Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has been named American League Player of the Week.

In his last seven games, Gonzalez hit .429 with three home runs and 12 RBI. He also scored five runs and racked up 21 total bases in those games. Despite Gonzalez' hitting, the Red Sox were just 3-4 last week.

Gonzalez is hitting .296 on the season with nine homers and 58 RBI. This was the sixth time Gonzalez has been named Player of the Week. His last Player of the Week award came last season for the week of August 22-28. Gonzalez had stiff competition but beat out Mike Trout of the Angels, Alex Gordon of the Royals, Jesus Montero of the Mariners and Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers for this week's honor.
