The Red Sox will be without Will Middlebrooks Monday night as they kick off their three-game series against the Oakland Athletics. First pitch is at 10:05 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
After leaving Sunday's game in the late-going, Will Middlebrooks will be absent from Monday's lineup with a sore hamstring, pushing Nick Punto into the starting role at least for the day. Punto will bat ninth behind Mike Aviles, who's returning after missing most of Sunday's game with an illness.
Otherwise, the Sox will stick to their typical lineup vs. right-handed pitchers against Jarrod Parker.
