Red Sox Vs. White Sox Final Score: Cody Ross' Big Night Leads Boston To 10-1 Rout Of Chicago

The Red Sox rode a tremendous performance from Cody Ross to a dominating 10-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

While the Sox once again found themselves behind in the first after Felix Doubront put two on with nobody out and surrendered an RBI single to Paul Konerko, they would quickly rebound. Jacoby Ellsbury would lead off the bottom half of the inning with a wall ball double, and then scored with two outs when Adrian Gonzalez found right field like Paul Konerko before him, knotting the game up at 1-1.

Doubront would escape from more trouble in the second, while rookie Pedro Hernandez seemed to settle down, allowing just a ground ball single in his second major league inning. Then came the third, and everything changed. Doubront held the White Sox to just a walk in the top half of the frame, and the top of the lineup took full advantage of the information they'd gained on Hernandez the first time through. Ellsbury and Crawford each singled up the middle to put two men on for Cody Ross, and when Hernandez tried to get a fastball in against him, Cody Ross cleared it out--out of the park, that is. There was never a question of distance or height, only fair or foul, and with the ball making it's way over everything and into the Boston night to the right of the left field foul pole, the Red Sox took a 4-1 lead.

The Cody Ross show was not done just yet, however. Once again presented with two men on in the fourth, Ross stepped to the plate and got an even better pitch to hit from Hernandez--a changeup that stayed up and over the plate. Once again, Ross swung big, and once again, he connected. This time there was no question of fair or foul, and once again the ball completely left the confines of Fenway park. The coup de grace would come immediately after, as Adrian Gonzalez took a low fastball and sent it into the Monster seats to make it back-to-back shots and an 8-1 lead.

Gonzalez would add another pair of runs later, knocking in Carl Crawford and Cody Ross, but with the White Sox mounting no real threat at any point, the Sox already had the win in the bag.
