The Red Sox will look to regain control of their four-game set against the Chicago White Sox Wednesday night as they send Felix Doubront to the mound against Pedro Hernandez. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
Mauro Gomez, called up today to replace David Ortiz after the latter was placed on the 15-day DL with a heel injury, will take over at designated hitter for the night. It's a much more appropriate position than third or even first for the defensively challenged right-handed hitter.
Gomez will be helped by the fact that he gets to face the left-handed rookie Pedro Hernandez, who only recently made the jump from Double-A to Triple-A. The Sox are, as usual, looking to make the lefty as uncomfortable as possible on the mound, stacking the lineup with as many right-handed hitters as possible.
