David Ortiz Injury: MRI Results Show No Tear In Achilles, Return Still Unknown

As David Ortiz expected, the MRI on his Achilles tendon Tuesday showed "no tear or rupture" and the Boston Red Sox slugger is expected to be ok, sources are telling Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald. The timetable for Ortiz's return, however, is still unknown.

The news comes as a relief to Red Sox fans, who have witnessed their fair share of injuries to star players this season. Ortiz was hurt Monday night when he was rounding second base after first basemen Adrian Gonzalez smashed his game-winning home run in the eighth inning. Ortiz hobbled around third and stepped on home plate.

After the game, Ortiz told reporters he didn't fell any pain and he should be alright. It is still unknown how many games the slugger will miss or if he will be put on the disable list.
