Brent Lillibridge Status: Red Sox Designate Utility Player To Make Room For Carl Crawford

The Boston Red Sox have designated utility player Brent Lillibridge to make room on the roster for outfielder Carl Crawford who has recovered from injury (via CBS Sports).

Lillibridge was acquired by the Red Sox in the Kevin Youkilis deal, along with pitcher Zach Stewart. Lillibridge had played in 10 games for Boston, hitting .125 with five strikeouts in 16 at-bats. Between the White Sox and Red Sox, Lillibridge only hit .165 with two RBI, four walks and 31 strikeouts this season.

Crawford will make his debut this season for the Red Sox in Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox with Youkilis returning to Fenway Park for the first time since the trade. Crawford will bat second in the order. He hit .306 with two RBI and eight walks in 11 minor league rehab assignment games this season.
