UConn football's Ryan Griffin, Sio Moore and Trevardo Williams each made the 2012 Lombardi Award watchlist, which was released Monday by The Rotary Club of Houston. The award is given to the best linebacker and linemen in college football.

Griffin, a tight end, earned a spot on the watchlist as he earned First Team All-Big East Conference honors. Griffin (6-foot-6, 247 pounds) also was named to the Mackey Award watchlist, which is given to the nation's best tight end.

Moore led the Big East in tackles for loss (16 total) in 2011-12 and earned Second Team All-Big East honors. Moore also earned a spot on the Butkus Award watchlist, which is given to the best defensive player in the country.

Meanwhile, Williams earned First Team All-Big East honors as a linebacker. Williams was also named to the Nagurki Award watchlist for the 2012 season.

Last season, Boston College's Luke Kuechly won the Lombardi Award at the linebacker position.
