Tour de France 2012 Results: Pierre Rolland Takes Stage 11, Bradley Wiggins Increases Overall Lead

Pierre Rolland of France won Stage 11 on Wednesday, but Bradley Wiggins of Britain increased his overall lead at the Tour de France and might be inching closer to victory.

Rolland claimed Stage 11's 92-mile trek from Albertville to La Toussuire, widely considered the toughest stage on the Tour, by 55 seconds over his closest competitor, Thibaut Pinot.

But it was Wiggins who might feel the best after the day, increasing his overall lead to 2:05 over Christopher Froome. Cadel Evans, the defending Tour champion, fell from second to fourth and now sits 3:19 behind Wiggins.

Wiggins finished sixth in the stage, 57 seconds behind Rolland.

Stage 12 arrives on Friday, and Wiggins will again be wearing the yellow jersey.
