The Red Sox will try and repay the Orioles for their extra-innings loss Wednesday night as they send Josh Beckett to the mound against Wei-Yin Chen. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. EST, with broadcasts by NESN and WEEI.
After a disappointing start to the season, the Red Sox will finally make a move that seems long overdue, dropping Adrian Gonzalez to sixth in the order. The All-Star first baseman--tonight playing right field-- is hitting just .262/.316/.407 so far on the year--more the stuff of a #8 or #9 hitting shortstop then a middle-of-the-order corner infielder, but has still never dropped below fifth.
The Sox will otherwise be stacking their lineup against the left-handed Chen, with Darnell McDonald making his return from the disabled list and Mike Aviles leading off.
