2012 MLB Draft: Boston Red Sox Select Pitcher Jamie Callahan In Round 2

The Boston Red Sox selected right-handed pitcher Jamie Callahan with the 87th pick in the second round of the 2012 MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Callahan played at Dillon High School in South Carolina this past season. His scouting report follows, courtesy of MLB.com's Draft Tracker:

Jamie Callahan, 6'2", 195 lbs, RHP, R/R

Callahan is a projectable righty who has the chance to have three plus pitches. He has a fastball that sits in the low 90s, touching 94-95 mph, but doesn't have a lot of movement. He also has a good 12-6 curveball that could be his best pitch, along with a promising changeup that has the potential to be a plus pitch. His slider needs work as it is inconsistent, and if his changeup keeps developing with his command, Callahan could be a very interesting prospect with significant upside.
