2012 MLB Draft: Boston Red Sox Select RHP Pat Light With 37th Overall Pick In Compensation Round

The Boston Red Sox selected right-handed pitcher Pat Light out of Monmouth with the 37th overall pick in the compensation round of the 2012 MLB Draft. He has a lanky frame--6'6, 200 pounds--and according to SI's Dave Perkins, Light could become a mid-rotation starter at some point.

Light has decent but not spectacular stuff, featuring a low 90's fastball which can touch the mid 90's. Lanky and projectable, he adds a curve, change and a mid 80's slider. Light profiles as a mid-rotation starter, able to eat up innings with his advanced command.

The Red Sox have now selected two pitchers in this year's draft. They took lefty Brian Johnson six picks earlier.
