On Saturday, June 30, the 99th edition of the Tour de France will commence with much anticipation. Ironically, the race won't start in France, but actually in the beautiful Belgian town of Liege.

The race is 2,173 miles long and will take just over three weeks to complete for the cyclists, when they stroll into the Champs-Elysees for a winner to be crowned.

Cadel Evans won the Tour de France last year and will be back in force ready to defend his title, but he'll have some competition. Bradley Wiggins, a young British rider, is the popular pick to unseat him and take the glory. Wiggins isn't known to be a great climber on the mountains, but he's an excellent sprinter.

On the local side of things, Ted King from Brentwood, NH is on the Liquigas-Cannondale team. The 29-year-old will be in search of his first Tour de France title.
