Connecticut moved to 3-0 last Friday, edging the San Antonio Silver Stars behind 23 points from Renee Montgomery and 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks from Tina Charles. With her fourth rebound with 2:02 remaining in the third quarter, Charles became the quickest player in WNBA history to snag 800 career boards, reaching the milestone in just 71 games.

Minnesota won its fifth straight contest to begin the season Wednesday night, needing a game-winning shot by Lindsay Whalen after blowing all of a 24-point lead against the Washington Mystics. Whalen put back her own miss with a second remaining to hold off the Mystics, who had fought all the way back from a 59-35 deficit.
