Belmont Stakes 2012: I'll Have Another Avoids Collision During Training

Triple Crown hopeful I'll Have Another avoided a collision scare during practice on Thursday at Belmont Park (via CBS New York).

I'll Have Another's trainer Doug O'Neill said that a horse got loose and tore up the rail in the direction which his horse was walking with stable pony Lava Man. The horse, later identified as maiden filly Isleta, had thrown her rider before running toward I'll Have Another. I'll Have Another's exercise rider, Jonny Garcia, said he felt the horse graze his boot as it went in between his horse and the rail.

After the incident, O'Neill said that his stomach was "still a little twisted."

I'll Have Another will try to become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978 when the Belmont Stakes is run on June 9.
