Adrian Gonzalez Discusses Slump

Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is hitless in his last 15 at-bats, including two critical outs he made during Boston's loss to the Oakland Athletics Wednesday night. But he remains convinced he will turn his season around soon.

"I've gone through a lot worse things than what I'm going through now. This is four games," Gonzalez said. "At the end of the day I'm always going to have the right approach, I'm always going to be prepared and I'm always going to be looking for a pitch I want to drive. I haven't been able to do it these last four days, but it will change come Friday."

Added manager Bobby Valentine, "I think he's just tired. He's played the entire time, and his timing and recognition of the strike zone is just a little off. He'll be fine.
