The Red Sox will take on the White Sox Saturday night as they aim for six straight wins and a .500 record on the season. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.
Last year, the Sox did not arrive at .500 until the game 40, losing games at 10-11, 14-15, and 17-18 before finally pulling it off with a three-game sweep of the Yankees on May 15. This year, Boston is hopeful that said landmark won't prove quite so difficult a hump to overcome.
If they want to make it today, however, they'll need a better start from Jon Lester than he's been capable of providing so far this year. Last time out against the Twins, Lester surrendered five runs in seven ugly innings of work, although the Sox were able to support him with just enough offense to escape the loss.
For that to work out this time, however, the lineup will need to get to Jake Peavy, which has been no easy task so far this year.
