Boston found themselves down early until four straight Eagles reached base off of FSU starter Mike Compton. With the bases loaded, Blake Butera’s bloop singled to left-field scoring two runners and closed the gap to 5-2. Compton had retired seven straight Eagles to that point in the game.
Boston College rallied again in the 7th inning stringing together three hits in a row. Pinch hitter Andrew Lawrence’s check swing ran down the third base line but stayed fair allowing a runner to score.
Secondbaseman Blake Butera went one for four on the day with two RBI. Rightfielder Matt McGovern had a one for three day with a walk and one RBI. Starting pitcher Hunter Gordon went 5.0 innings pitched and gave up four earned runs and had two strikeouts. Gordon’s record on the season drops to 1-4.
