The Boston Marathon, the world's oldest annual marathon, returns for its 116th installment on Monday, April 16.
One of the men's favorites will be Geoffrey Kiprono Mutai, a 30-year old Kenyan who ran the fastest marathon in history to win last year at 2:03:02. His performance wasn't considered a world record because the course in Boston doesn't meet specific requirements, but he still considers himself the fastest marathoner in the world.
"Everyone knows that I ran the distance, " Mutai told the Boston Herald Wednesday during an appearance at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury. "For me, I still say I am the fastest. I don't want to disturb myself. I'll still have time to make it (2:03) again and I'll prove it, maybe, in coming years, maybe lower. But, I say, I am OK (with it). That will not stop me. I'll still have another time."
