BOSTON - And so the plot thickens. The Rock returned to Boston, a city where he has had a lot of success, to confront Massachusetts native John Cena on Monday Night Raw at TD Garden before the two meet in what is being billed as the most anticipated match in history at WrestleMania 28 on April 1 in Miami, Florida.
Cena's beef with Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson has been his back and forth lifestyle between wrestling and Hollywood, claiming that The Rock isn't the same anymore. Of course, Rocky had a different point of view, using a series of history lessons around the city of Boston to say that he is starting a revolution to bring down Cena in the WWE.
While the two didn't wrestle against each other, there was plenty of heat. It's clear that Cena respects Rock, who he lauds as one of the greatest wrestlers in the company's history, but he takes issue with Dwyane, the movie star. The feeling isn't mutual for The Rock, who clearly can't stand Cena, meaning their WrestleMania battle should be epic.
The main event of the evening was a tag team match, featuring WWE Champion CM Punk and Sheamus, the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title, facing Chris Jericho, the top contender for the WWE title, and the current World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Jericho pinned Punk to win the match, then lorded it over him by holding up Punk's title belt. Jericho and Punk will battle for the WWE Title and Sheamus and Bryan will face off for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania.
