What a week it was for New England lacrosse. The Minutemen remain undefeated, while some other teams have stepped up and others have fallen off. Here is a look at all of the weekend's action.
Fairfield Stags 14, Vermont Catamounts 7
Vermont was not able to get over that hump for their first win, as they fell to the 6-0 Fairfield Stags. Connor McNamara led the Catamounts with two goals in the loss, while Drew Phillie also had two, and goalies Alex Plavner and David Barton made 13 saves combined.
Colgate Red Raiders 13, Holy Cross Crusaders 9
Holy Cross falls to 3-3 after winning earlier in the week, losing to the 5-1 Colgate Red Raiders. Terry McKinna and John Hannan had two goals a piece for the Crusaders, but Ryan Walsh led the 'Raiders and the game with four goals.
Georgetown Hoyas 11, Harvard Crimson 10
This was one of the best games in the NCAA on Saturday, on a day where three others saw the national TV scene. Jeff Cohen and Daniel Eipp each had a hat trick for the Crimson, while Zack Angel and Jason McFaddon on Georgetown also had hat tricks.
Detroit Mercy Titans 13, Quinnipiac Bobcats 10
Quinnipiac also has not lost a game this season, as they fall to the 3-4 Detroit Mercy Titans. Michael Sagl had four goals for the Bobcats, and he was really the only play who stepped up for them. Joel Matthews and Scott Harris each had three for the Titans.
UMass Minutemen 14, Hartford Hawks 5
The Minutemen really have an outside shot at the Championship, especially if Cornell falls off, who lost to Virginia this week. They defeated the the 1-4 Hartford, but the Hawks are actually a decent team and this was not a gimmie. But the hat tricks from Colin Fleming and Art Kell led the Minutemen to the victory.
