Almost two months ago, when the Bruins last went into a game after losing two straight, Shawn Thornton really drove home the importance of coming out and winning the next one by saying that once something hits three games--good or bad-- it becomes a trend.
And this isn't the kind of trend the Bruins want to be a part of.
After dropping their last two games to Carolina and Pittsbugh respectively, the B's now travel to Washington D.C. to take on the Capitals for the second time in just under two weeks.
They didn't see much success last time they traveled to the Capitol, giving up five goals while obtaining only three. Granted, last time they played they were without defenseman Andrew Ference, but since Ference's return, they have dropped both games they have played.
Tuukka Rask took the loss last time and would likely return to net after Tim Thomas' losing effort against Pittsburgh, though his numbers aren't as good as Thomas' against the Capitals. Rask holds a 0-2-1 record with a 3.45 GAA in three career games. Meanwhile, Thomas is 4-0-0 with a 2.11 GAA in the last five against them.
The puck drops at 12:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBCSP and aired live on 100.7 instead of 98.5 the Sports Hub due to the Super Bowl.
