After taking care of the Princeton Tigers last night 67-64, the first place Harvard Crimson (24-3, 10-1 IVY) look to clinch at least a tie of the Ivy League Championship on Saturday as they play host to the second place Penn Quakers (16-11, 8-2 IVY) on Saturday night at the Lavieties Pavilion.
Harvard shared the regular season Ivy title with Princeton, but were defeated by the Tigers in a playoff game that eliminated them from NCAA tournament considerations. With a win on Saturday, the Crimson would be put in a desirable position to wrap up the Ivy League as only sixth place Columbia and fifth place Cornell remain on the schedule. Harvard beat both earlier this season.
Kyle Casey continues to turn some heads in Cambridge, as he put on one of his best performances of the season last night with 20 points and eight rebounds against Princeton. Fellow big man Keith Wright seems to be close to matching Casey's performances as he is averaging a little over 10 points a game to go along with eight boards a game.
Senior guard Brandyn Curry has been by far the most improved player on the roster, as he's been averaging 16.5 points per game in his last two games to go along with a team leading 5.0 assists per game. Curry had just one point against the Quakers earlier this year.
Make no mistake that Penn won't be as simple a task as they were to Harvard last time out. Ivy League player of the year hopeful Zach Rosen has been on fire as of late. His 27 points in last night's win over Dartmouth is only a small sample as to what the senior guard has done this season. He's averaging 18.4 points per game and has breached 20 points in two of his last three games. Rosen had 16 points in Penn's 56-50 loss to the Crimson earlier this season.
The X-factor for Harvard last time out against Penn was reserve guard Corbin Miller, who had a season high 17 points off the bench for the Crimson. Watch out for the streaky Miller to be that X-Factor once again tonight.
