Hockey East: van Reimsdyk propels UNH to consolation win over BSU in Ledyard Classic

New Hampshire 3, Bemidji State 2 (OT)
After taking a bow to No. 8 Dartmouth on Sunday, the New Hampshire Wildcats bounced back in the consolation game of the 24th annual Ledyard National Bank Classic, but needed overtime to take down the Bemidji State Beavers by a 3-2 score at Thompson Arena. The game was the first all-time meeting between the teams. With the win, the Wildcats stop a two-game losing skid and improve to 12-3-2 on the campaign. A UNH face-off win was tipped to sophomore Trevor van Reimsdyk and he fired the winning goal past BSU second-year netminder Andrew Walsh (33 saves) at the 2:08 mark - his sixth tally of the season. Van Riemsdyk finished with a goal and an assist in the contest, while classmates Jay Camper and Matt Willows each registered multi-point efforts as well. Sophomore Casey DeSmith continued his very strong season with 18 saves between the pipes, improving to 11-3-2, heading into a Saturday match with former ECAC foe RPI at Whittemore Center.
