Harvard vs. Northeastern score update: Ferriero's hat trick lifts Huskies in second period

After falling behind by a goal early in the first period, the visiting Northeastern Huskies changed the flow at Bright Hockey Center in the second as they scored three times - all off the stick of junior Cody Ferriero - on their first three power plays to take a 3-1 lead over the host Harvard Crimson.

The performance was Ferriero's first multi-point game of the season and also secured second-career hat trick. He also turned the trick in an 8-3 win at Vermont last Jan. 27.

The Huskies have a 24-23 shots on goal advantage for the contest, despite trailing 15-13 in the period.

Just 1:22 in (and on a 5-on-3 advantage), he took a pass from senior captain Vinny Saponari, before firing a slick wrist shot over the blocker-side shoulder of Girard for just his second goal of the season and first since Nov. 16 at Providence.

After rookie Kevin Roy's shot on the crease was denied, Ferriero was there to clean up the mess for the rebound goal at 3:02.

His third of the stanza and contest came at the 10:21 mark as he was on the spot in the center slot, just getting a piece of the puck off the end of his stick to deflect Ludwig Karlsson's shot from the point.
