Boston's sports teams are off after the Celtics suffered a brutal beatdown at the hands of the Los Angeles Clippers, so college football is the main draw on a Friday with only a few days left in 2012.

College football: Advocare V1000 Independence Bowl, 2 p.m., Ohio vs. Louisiana-Monroe, ESPN: A pair of non-AQ teams with quality wins earlier in the season - Ohio beat Penn State, Louisiana-Monroe beat Arkansas - finished their seasons with eight wins to make it to Shreveport.

Russell Independence Bowl, 5:30 p.m., Virginia Tech vs. Rutgers, ESPN: The Scarlet Knights have a chance for ten wins for the third time in program history after getting a Big East title - even if they did split it four ways - while Virginia Tech looks to finish a sub-par year above .500.

Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, 9 p.m., Minnesota vs. Texas Tech: The Red Raiders had the No. 2 passing attack in the nation with Seth Doege throwing for almost 4,000 yards, while Minnesota backed into bowl play after a 2-6 conference record.
