The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take on the Florida State Seminoles for the ACC Championship on Saturday night. The Yellow Jackets are fortunate to be in the game, as they finished in a tie for second in the Coastal Division. A self-imposed postseason ban for Miami, and an NCAA postseason ban for North Carolina gave the Georgia Tech a shot at the BCS bid. The Seminoles lost just once in conference play, and won the tiebreaker over Clemson by beating the Tigers in a head-to-head match-up.
Georgia Tech's high-scoring option offense will be trying to solve Florida State's stout defense. The Yellow Jackets average 36.2 points and 323.3 rushing yards per game. The Seminoles are allowing just 15.1 points per contest.
Tevin Washington makes the decisions as the quarterback in Georgia Tech's option attack. He has thrown for 1,097 yards and rushed for 618 on the year. The Yellow Jackets' big play running back is Orwin Smith, who averages 9.0 yards per carry.
E.J. Manuel leads the way on offense for Florida State. The senior has completed 67 percent of his passes for 2,967 yards and 22 touchdowns. Manuel is also a threat with his legs, as he rushed for 102 yards in an important win over Clemson way back in September.
