Notre Dame vs. Boston College score update: Scoreless first period at Kelley Rink

In a highly-anticipated contest between a pair of long-standing rivals, No. 1 Boston College and No. 7/8 Notre Dame played to an extremely entertaining first period that resulted in a scoreless stalemate. The Irish had the better of the chances in the early going and on a late 5-on-3 advantage, ending the stanza with a commanding 9-4 shots on goal lead.

Both goaltenders were exceptional in the stanza as Irish junior Steven Summerhays and BC senior Parker Milner matched each other save for save, keeping the sides off the scoreboard.

Although the score read 0-0, each side had some strong scoring chances, but no better stop than Milner had during the final minute. A scrambling BC defense of just three skaters left Notre Dame junior Jeff Costello wide open on the crease, but Milner sprawled across to deny the goal.

Additionally, a star-studded press box line-up features NESN Bruins announcer Jack Edwards, who is preparing to call Sunday's Eagles game at Boston University.
