Uconn vs. USF 2012 score update: Uconn still trails South Florida 7-6 after three quarter

Uconn cut into the USF lead, but still trail 7-6 going into the fourth quarter.

The Connecticut Huskies have managed to cut into the South Florida Bulls lead, but still trail 7-6 going into the fourth quarter.

The Huskies forced the Bulls to punt on their first drive of the half, then went on a monster drive that chewed up most the clock. The possession started deep in Connecticut territory at their own 14 yard-line, but the team drove the ball down the field, eating up almost eight minutes of clock in the process. The Huskies picked up six first downs on the drive, with Chandler Whitmer connecting on six of his eight pass attempts for 56 yards. The drive ultimately stalled at the South Florida 20 yard line, forcing Uconn to settle for a Chad Christen 37-yard field goal to bring the score to 7-6.

The next South Florida drive was also ineffective, as the Connecticut defense forced a three-and-out, giving the offense the ball back with 3:37 remaining in the third quarter. The offense was unable to mount a second scoring drive in the quarter, punting the ball back to South Florida with 22 seconds left in the quarter.
