UConn vs. USF: Huskies searching for first Big East win against Bulls

The UConn Huskies, still winless in Big East play, are hoping to end a three-game losing streak against the USF Bulls on Saturday night in Tampa, FL.

The UConn Huskies (3-5, 0-3 Big East) are hoping to end their three-game skid and pick up their first Big East win against the USF Bulls (2-6, 0-4 Big East) on Saturday evening in Tampa, Florida.

UConn and USF have met nine times, with the Huskies holding a 5-4 advantage in the all-time series. UConn has defeated USF in four of the last five meetings. Perhaps the biggest Huskies' victory over the Bulls came in 2010, a win that clinched the first ever BCS bowl game berth for UConn.

The Huskies had won three of their first five games before dropping their first three Big East games to Rutgers, Temple and Syracuse. Two weekends ago, UConn was blown out by the Orange, 40-10, before heading into the bye week. Chandler Whitmer had 296 passing yards, a touchdown and one interception and the Huskies' rushing attack was held to negative six rushing yards.

South Florida opened the 2012 campaign with two consecutive victories but has fallen into a horrible skid, dropping six in a row. Last time out, the Bulls lost a heartbreaker to the Syracuse Orange, 37-36, after the Orange scored the game-winning touchdown with three seconds left. B.J. Daniels had 183 passing yards and one throwing score while Lindsey Lamar rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown and Daniels totaled 134 rushing yards.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be aired on ESPNU.
