The St. Lawrence Saints continued their weekend of facing former ECAC rivals in Boston on Saturday night, heading across town to Agganis Arena to take on No. 10 Boston University for the first time since 2008.
BU scored the lone goal of the first period to take a 1-0 lead on a 17-8 advantage in shots on goal. In his first start of his collegiate career, freshman Sean Maguire turned aside each of the eight fairly-routine chances he saw.
Just as Northeastern did on Friday night at Matthews Arena, the Terriers jumped ahead with an early goal on SLU senior Matt Weninger at 11:15 of the first. Terrier senior captain Wade Megan, who hails from the home of the Saints in Canton, N.Y., made his hometown team pay with his seventh goal of the season.
After taking a pass from rookie defenseman Ahti Oksanen, Megan fired a ripper from the high slot that clanked off the post and got just enough inside to take the lead.
