Boston College vs. Charleston final score: Eagles end Charleston Classic with 71-67 loss

Ryan Anderson did not dress for the Boston College Eagles, and the absence of their leading scorer coupled with below average shooting resulted in a 71-67 victory for the Charleston Cougars in the finale of the 2012 Charleston Classic on Sunday afternoon in Charleston, S.C.

Boston College was able to open up a seven-point advantage midway through the opening half, but Charleston closed the gap to five at the end of the half, making it 34-29 at the break. The Cougars fought back to tie the game at 37 with 17:43 remaining and again at 40 with 16:00 left. After a three-minute scoring drought for both sides, Charleston would go on an 8-2 run and maintained its distance for most of the half, but Boston College eventually worked the lead down to one, 59-58, with 2:21 left. Andrew Lawrence (22 points) took over down the stretch for the Cougars, scoring the final nine points after an Anthony Stitt three to keep the Eagles winless in the Charleston Classic.

Patrick Heckmann finished with a season-best 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from long distance to lead Boston College, which made 22-of-55 baskets (40.0 percent). Lonnie Jackson made four threes and had 14 points while Joe Rahon totaled 13 points and seven rebounds and Dennis Clifford had 11 points.

Boston College returns home to Conte Forum to host Auburn on Nov. 21.
