Coming off their first win of the season last week against Akron, UMass had a chance to hang a crooked number in their win column. But after a 13-0 halftime lead vanished, Buffalo made all the plays at the end of the game to prevail 29-19.
The breakdowns began on special teams. Nursing a 13-0 lead in the third quarter, Minutemen punter Colter Johnson had a punt attempt blocked and returned for a touchdown. UMass responded with a touchdown of their own - a Deion Walker 38-yard touchdown catch from Mike Wegzyn - but it proved to be the final score for the Minutemen.
The Bulls scored three touchdowns in the final 17 minutes to complete the comeback and hand UMass their 10th game of the season. In their first season of FBS play, the Minutemen will have one more chance to hang a "2" in the win column against Central Michigan on Friday.
