The Boston College Eagles, looking for their third victory on the season, trail the No. 4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 14-3 at half.
Notre Dame scored on its first possession of the game, marching the ball 95 yards down the field for an Everett Golson 2-yard touchdown run. Boston College responded with an impressive drive of their own. The Eagles started with the ball at their own 12 yard-line and drove into the Fighting Irish red zone, but the Irish held firm and forced a Boston College field goal.
The Eagles' forced Irish tailback George Atkinson III to fumble the ball in the second quarter, but proved unable to score on the turnover. After a Boston College punt, the Irish went on a drive that chewed up 8:30 in the quarter, and it resulted in a Golson 7-yard touchdown pass to Troy Niklas.
Boston College linebacker and the team's leading tackler Nick Clancy suffered an upper body injury in the first half and will not return to the game.
