Torey Lovullo, formerly the manager of the Pawtucket Red Sox, will be hired as the bench coach for the Boston Red Sox in the next few days, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.
According to baseball sources, former Pawtucket Red Sox manager Torey Lovullo will be hired as the Red Sox' bench coach in the coming days.
Lovullo was hired to manage the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Red Sox, on November 30, 2009 and served as the team's skipper for the 2010 season. One year later, new Red Sox manager John Farrell, then the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays, hired Lovullo as his first base coach. Lovullo, 42, was considered a candidate to replace Terry Francona last season before the team ultimately hired Bobby Valentine.
In eight MLB seasons, Lovullo -- an infielder -- hit .224 with 15 HR and 60 RBI.
