UMass vs. Bowling Green: Minutemen face Falcons on homecoming weekend

Still searching for their first win, the UMass Minutemen (0-6, 0-3 MAC) will do battle with Bowling Green Falcons (4-3, 2-1 MAC) on homecoming weekend Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.

UMass and Bowling Green will be playing for the first time on Saturday. The Minutemen are playing their third home game of the season and their last game at Gillette Stadium until November 17th against Buffalo. UMass begins a three-game road trip starting next Saturday against Vanderbilt.

The Minutemen had made significant progress in each of their first five games, starting with a 37-0 loss to Connecticut and culminating in a 37-34 loss to Ohio, but was blown away by Western Michigan, 52-14, two weekends ago. UMass could only muster 218 yards, with 135 coming through the air, and surrendered two 21-point quarters.

Mike Wegzyn has had his ups and downs this season for UMass and has compiled 1,022 passing yards and four scoring tosses on 99 completions. Michael Cox has 395 rushing yards and three touchdowns and Deion Walker has caught 21 passes for 411 yards and one score.

Bowling Green is an 18-point favorite over UMass. Kickoff is at noon Eastern.
