MLB standings update: AL East comes down to final two days

The New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles could take the AL East race down to the final day of the season

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The AL East race between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles will come down to the final two days of the regular season. New York currently holds a one-game lead over Baltimore in the division.

The Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox Monday night while the Orioles fell to the Tampa Bay Rays to give the Yankees the slight advantage in the division. The division race could wrap up Tuesday with another Yankees win and Orioles loss.

Both the Yankees and the Orioles have won six out of their last 10 games. The Boston Red Sox, on the other hand, have completely tanked, winning only one game in their past 10. Their record now stands at 69-91, good enough for last place in the AL East.

The Detroit Tigers clinched the AL Central Monday night. Their recent hot streak coupled with a Chicago White Sox collapse in which they won only three of their last 13 allowed Detroit to clinch their second consecutive division title.
