Connecticut vs. Syracuse score: Orange explode for 17 3rd quarter points to take control

The Syracuse Orange scored 17 third quarter points to take a commanding 37-10 lead over the Connecticut Huskies heading into the fourth quarter of their Big East matchup on Friday night in the Carrier Dome. Syracuse received the ball to start the half, and immediately marched down the field on a five play drive highlighted by a 68 yard completion from Ryan Nassib to Alec Lemon. Prince-Tyson Gully finished the drive with a four yard touchdown run. After a UConn three-and-out, Jerome Smith took five straight handoffs and marched the Orange down to the Husky 25, where Ross Krautman kicked a career-long 42-yard field goal. Syracuse would add another touchdown on an 11-yard strike from Nassib to Lemon.

Connecticut was unable to get anything going offensively, gaining only one first down on three drives in the quarter. The Huskies only have 211 yards through three quarters, and -15 rushing yards while going 1-10 on third down.

Ryan Nassib has thrown for 244 yards and two scores for Syracuse, 168 of those yards going to receiver Alec Lemon. Jerome Smith has rushed for a career-high 136 yards
