Darko Milicic injury update: Celtics center has 'mild wrist injury,' will get cortisone shot

BOSTON - Darko Milicic suffered a mild right wrist sprain during Monday night's Boston Celtics preseason game against the Philadelphia 76ers, and will get a cortisone shot to ease the pain. Milicic will not play in Tuesday night's preseason home opener against the Brooklyn Nets and will be out for a few days.

"I'm not," said Celtics head coach Doc Rivers, when asked if he was concerned about Milicic's injury. "I just know that those things, if you keep falling on it or [if] someone keeps hitting it, those things never heal. We're probably going to give him this game off and the next one and probably play him [in four days]."

Milicic has played in four preseason games and has averaged 3.3 points and 5.0 rebounds in an average of 14.5 minutes per night. Milicic is the former No. 2 overall pick of the Detroit Pistons in the 2003 NBA Draft.
