Celtics vs. Nets: Boston welcomes Brooklyn to town

The Boston Celtics host the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday in the Celtics preseason home opener.

The Boston Celtics host the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night as they look for their first preseason win against an NBA team. The Celtics are 1-3 this preseason, with their only victory coming against Emporio Armani Milano in Italy. They are 0-2 against NBA teams.

Tuesday's game will be the first game this preseason at the TD Garden. The Celtics lost to the Knicks 98-95 in Hartford, Conn. on Oct. 13 and lost to the Philadelphia 76ers 107-75 in Philadelphia on Monday. Jeff Green has been the Celtics leading scorer this preseason, averaging 13.3 points per game.

The Nets are 2-0, having defeated the 76ers in Atlantic City, N.J. and the Washington Wizards in the first-ever game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday. The Nets have been led by Brook Lopez, who has averaged 18.5 points and 10 rebounds per game this preseason.

The Celtics play the Nets again on Thursday, Oct. 18 in Brooklyn before finishing up the preseason with games against the Knicks and 76ers on Oct. 20 and 21. Boston's regular season opener is on Oct. 30 against the defending-champion Miami Heat.
