The Boston Celtics play their second preseason game in as many days, and playoff baseball and World Cup qualifiers are on TV as well.
↵NBA: Boston Celtics vs. Brooklyn Nets, 7:30 p.m., CSN: ]he Celtics have had a sub-par preseason, losing to a European team and losing by 32 to Philadelphia last night, but it's just the preseason. Expect the starters to rest even more than they usually would in the preseason on the second night of a back-to-back.
↵MLB: New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers, 8 p.m., TBS: If you have that t-shirt that says your two favorite teams are the Boston Red Sox and whoever is playing the Yankees, at least one of your favorite teams is in action this postseason. The team from the Bronx are down 2-0 and no longer have Derek Jeter, one of the few players who produced offensively thus far this postseason.
↵World Cup qualifying: US vs. Guatemala, 6:30 p.m., ESPN2: The United States advances to the fourth and final round of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup with a draw or win against Guatemala. They should be able to pull it off: Guatemala also advances with a draw, so they might play for a tie rather than challenge a stronger US team and risk not advancing with a loss.
↵Also on TV: Spain vs. France, 3 p.m., ESPN2,
↵Louisiana-Lafayette vs. North Texas, 9 p.m., ESPN2
