Temple vs. UConn 2012: Loss puts Paul Pasqualoni on hot seat

The Connecticut Huskies blew an early 14-0 lead and lost to the Temple Owls, 17-14, in overtime Saturday in a Big East Conference game at Rentschler Field. The loss featured the Huskies (3-4, 0-2 Big East) allowing the Owls (3-2, 2-0) to score 17 unanswered points en route to their second straight league win.

Here's how the SB Nation blog The UConn Blog reacted to the disappointing loss that featured Temple winning on just a field goal in overtime:

No one deserves to get off easy today. Not the defense, which spent large portions of the game forgetting how to tackle. Not the offense, which still can't run or block (the line play was horrendous all afternoon). Not the special teams, where Chad Christen missed four (FOUR!) field goals, including an overtime chip shot.

The loss has officially put UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni on the hot seat, and unless the Huskies can run the table he might be out of a job come season's end.

I cannot imagine a scenario in which Paul Pasqualoni and George DeLeone are allowed to keep their jobs. The product on the field is inexcusably bad, and it will be tough to find fans who are still interested in paying money to see this team play.

On Friday, the Huskies visit the Syracuse Orange for a Big East showdown at the Carrier Dome (8 p.m. ET on ESPN). The contest will feature Pasqualoni returning to his old stomping grounds of SU, where he coached at from 1991-04.
