UConn Vs. Notre Dame Final Score: Ryan Boatright Returns But Is No Help In 50-48 Loss to Irish

Despite Jeremy Lamb scoring a game-best 16 points, the No. 24-ranked Connecticut Huskies were upset by visiting Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 50-48, in a Big East Conference men's basketball game at the XL Center in Hartford, CT. The Irish (14-8, 6-3 Big East) got double-figure performances from sophomore guards, Eric Atkins (13 points) and Jerian Grant (11), and senior guard Scott Martin (10) to earn their third straight victory, while the Huskies (14-6, 4-4) lost their third straight game.

UConn, losers of five of the its last seven games, had a chance to tie the game as regulation ended, but Lamb's desperation put-back off his own missed free throw hit the front end of the rim and fell to the court as the buzzer sounded.

Freshman guard Ryan Boatright played in his first game after missing the last three because of an NCAA investigation that looked into improper benefits. Boatright finished the game with just four points, while freshman center Andre Drummond tallied 15 points for UConn, which trailed by as much as eight points in the second half.

Notre Dame, which had its lead trimmed to 45-40 with 2:44 to go, held onto its lead by sinking six of its final eight free throws.
