In a game with the top spot in the Atlantic 10 Conference on the line, the Massachusetts Minutemen defeated the St. Louis Billikens in impressive fashion today, by a final score of 72-59. The win improved the Minutemen's record to 16-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play this season. With only nine games remaining UMass now sits alone atop the Atlantic 10 conference, leading St. Bonaventure, La Salle and Dayton by a half game.
Despite attempting 17 more shots and turning the ball over four less times than the Minutemen, the Billikens hurt themselves by shooting 34 percent from the floor – compared to 50 from the Minutemen – including 24 attempts from beyond the arch, in which they converted only five.
The Minutemen next take the floor on February 1, when they travel to Washington to face the George Washington Colonials.
