Bruins Vs. Capitals: B's Hope To Take Strong Game Into All Star Break

Both teams are a bit shorthanded coming into tonight's game, but heading into the All Star Break, who's going to stand out this time?

From the White House to the Verizon Center, the Bruins are hoping that their last game before the All Star Break is a statement game.

They have had a lot going on in the past week, and playing a solid game tonight would allow them to go into the break on a firm and confident foot. Between Andrew Ference's suspension and Tim Thomas' choosing not to go to the White House to be honored by President Obama, the Bruins have had a dim light hanging over their heads the past few days.

But tonight, they will play against the Washington Capitals, also victims of a recent suspension. Super star Alex Ovechkin was suspended for three games on Monday after crushing Zbynek Michalek into the boards. His suspension came the day after the announcement of Ference's three game suspension.

In their seven game stint before the break, the Bruins have gone 3-2-1 so far after posting a remarkable 25-4-1 in their previous 30 before that. For five of those six games, they were without Brad Marchand who also served a suspension after allegedly clipping Sami Salo back on January 7th.

This is the first meeting between the Capitals and the Bruins this season, and last year the Bruins took three-of-four games, with the most recent being December 18, 2010 where the Bruins took a 3-2 win in Boston.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on NESN and aired live on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
