Frozen Fenway 2012: Boston College Defeats Northeastern, 2-1

Boston College rebounded from a 4-0 blanking at the hands of the UMass Minutemen on Friday night as the Eagles posted a 2-1 victory over the in-town and Hockey East rival Northeastern Huskies on Saturday in the Frozen Fenway 2012 finale.

Pat Mullane scored the game's first goal for BC at 4:55 of the second period, his third goal of the season, on an assist from Steven Whitney. Garrett Vermeersch knotted the score at 1-1 for Northeastern, scoring his fourth goal of the season on assists from Ludwig Karlsson and Vinny Saponari, at 16:19 of the middle period. Early in the third period, Chris Kreider netted the eventual game-winner, scoring his 14 goal of the season (assisted by Danny Linell), while the Eagles were shorthanded to give Boston College a 2-1 lead at 4:02.

Chris Venti started in goal for Boston College, earning his first win with 14 saves. Chris Rawlings had 28 saves while allowing two goals in the loss for Northeastern.
